Hard Times: we all have them. They are a part of life, of living. As author and Buddhist, Timber Hawkeye writes in his wonderful book, “Faithfully Religionless”,

“In Buddhism, “Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.”

As memoir author, Viga Boland wrote in her book, “Learning to Love Myself”,

“I want my children to remember me as a woman who is thankful for her struggles; without those struggles, she would never have discovered her strengths.”

And that is the message shared here by poet, Lisa Jane Emery, in this poem/graphic, “HARD TIMES”. May these words of wisdom lift your spirits. May you, like Timber Hawkeye come to believe that “Every obstacle, challenge, difficulty and heartbreak has actually enriched my life, not damaged it…learning is a gift, even when pain is your teacher.”
