Podcast #2 about skin care products from #Rodan+#Fields

by author, book and product reviewer, Viga Boland, consultant for Rodan+Fields

Hi folks!

Viga Boland here with another SKIN DEEP SKIN CARE podcast for you where I bring you my latest thoughts on, and my experience with following a Rodan+Fields skin regimen.

I’d like to begin this podcast with a somewhat nostalgic story:

Back in those days BCBefore Children…when hubby and I would get away once a year to somewhere in the Carribean, and where, apart from relaxing with rum and cokes on the beach, what was uppermost in my mind was coming back home to Canada in January wearing that dark tan that made all the winter palefaces envious. Oh how good I thought I looked, despite the blisters on my shoulders and the beginnings of peel on my brow and cheeks.

Now, I think of myself as a reasonably intelligent person, but it took more than blisters to wake me up to just how damaging constant exposure to the sun without using sun screeners can be. Let me share my real wake-up call with you. This came when our family moved to Australia in 1984. The first thing we did was look up old friends. When one of them, a woman my age at the time (38) opened her front door, I nearly went into shock: the beautiful young woman I had met in Canada 10 years earlier was hopelessly freckled, tan and wrinkled. She looked twice as old as me. Once I got over my shock, I asked her if she suntans a lot on the beach. Her reply?

“Never! This is the result of just living in a sunny country like Australia where you tan just by walking around without sun-screener!”

We moved back to Canada in 1992, and my then 46-year-old face was freckled with dark moles appearing all over my face, arms and back. Doesn’t sound very nice, does it? Believe me, it wasn’t.

Fast forward to now, and at 70 years of age, what I see is anything but pretty. What I see is the damage that soaking up that sun for years has done to my face. Those age and sun-damaged dark spots have become more and more visible. I had written off any hope of my skin ever looking radiant and youthful again. And then, thanks to my daughter (see my earlier posts in this section of Vianvi) I found Rodan+Fields Skin Care.

While I began my skin care regimen using REDEFINE for my pronounced wrinkles, the results Victoria was having with using REVERSE for her Melasma intrigued me. Could REVERSE really help with my dark age spots, make them look less visible, make me like my damaged face just a bit more?

Well folks, I’ve been using REVERSE once a day daily for the past 4-5 weeks, and, unless I’m dreaming, I see a remarkable improvement already. Just look at the photos I’ve posted in my blog here showing you then and now. If those dark spots are already “fading” as it were, how much more will they have faded after 2-3 months? I can’t wait to see and I’ll continue to post progress photos on my site because it’s obvious to me, Rodan+Fields Reverse Regimen works.

Best of all, is what my husband said to me on Mother’s Day. He’s a man of few words and definitely doesn’t say anything he doesn’t mean. But he looked at me on Mothers Day and what he said was the best gift he’s given me in years. He said: “You look younger!”

I said “Really? You’re not just being nice because it’s Mother’s Day?”

He smiled and said, “No, really. You look younger than you did 1-2 years ago.”

I jumped up and kissed him and asked him to take my photo. Why is that important? Because for years now I’ve told him not to take my picture.

Just a last little story to share with you: when I went swimming last week, I got chatting with a lady in the pool who had suffered 2 strokes. As we talked, I couldn’t help but notice her skin. It was smooth, relatively unwrinkled, and healthy looking. I asked her:

“Do you mind my asking how old you are?’

“78,” she said proudly.

I was astonished. I said: “But your skin! You don’t look a day over 60! How come you have such beautiful skin?”

She smiled and said: “I’ve been following a skin care regimen since I was 25 and I always use sun-screener when I’m out and about.”

Point is this: you cannot start a skin care regimen too soon. That beautiful 20-year-old skin won’t stay looking like that forever. But isn’t it good to know that with Rodan+Fields Skin Care Regimens, we can REDEFINE and REVERSE some of the effects of aging even when we’re in our 40’s, 50’s and beyond.

Viga is right, folks. I am her age and have tried it too. Not only is my skin looking better, but it feels better too. No tightness from drying soaps, My skin is smooth, and less lined than before, and I am only trying one DEFINE product. There are many more products in that line, and others for all skin types and ages.

Thanks Barbara. And to think you were as skeptical as I was! Amazing.
